Interality’s 90s NFT Drop | In-World Minting Experience & Bringing your NFTs to Life

Jack Butcher released CHECKS. The artwork consisted of an 8x10 grid of check marks for $8 and is a nod to the recent Twitter update that changed the meaning & context of the Verified Check from being a notable person to now accessible via an $8 subscription plan.

The mint sold out and 16,000+ NFTs were bought. With over 2000+ collectors this soon became a Twitter phenomenon and we had a series of projects use this format as the canvas for their own version of CHECKS. These included other popular icons, fruits, characters, etc.

The idea behind CHECKS seems to now be a part of the meme culture.

In Jack Butcher's words, “IF NO ONE IS VERIFIED, EVERYONE IS VERIFIED. IF NO ONE IS NOTABLE, EVERYONE IS NOTABLE.”

This doesn’t stop here, Jack decided to make this even more interesting. Every CHECKS NFT can be burned to create an even rarer NFT until you finally gain the rarest of all NFTs. A BLACK CHECK MARK.

This project was successful in rallying community members & creators, all in pursuit of some fun & a common goal.

So we decided to add our very own twist to this latest phenomenon. An homage to the original CHECKS collection and the community that adopted the meme.

Introducing “90s”

A unique grid of game cartridges that take us back to our childhood. It includes some of the games a lot of us grew up playing and they were a significant part of culture. We wanted to bring the magic of our childhood to this new world of on-chain collectibles + an otherworldly experience that goes beyond the ordinary minting process a lot of NFT participants are used to.

What did we set out to achieve?

Disrupt the existing minting process used by projects & make it exciting.
Bring back some 90s nostalgia
Allow those that missed the CHECKs mint an opportunity to be a part of this new trend and cultural phenomenon
Improve UX & Abstract away any on-chain complexities ( Eliminate gas fees, need for chain/network knowledge, etc)
Bridge the gap between Virtual & Physical with AR
Provide new users with their first digital collectible that they can now share on Instagram

In-World Minting

The existing standard for a good minting experience is a well built Dapp with a Mint button that is enabled once you connect your wallet & hoping nothing breaks.

We decided to crank it up a notch and make this the best minting experience anyone has ever had ( UX optimisations, Tech improvements & a fun environment ) . A virtual world for collectors to explore, interact and access in-world minting.

We bring your NFTs to life

At Interality we have been working closely on all things AR because we do believe that AR is the bridge between these virtual worlds, digital collectibles & the real world. As more users come online and start participating in this on-chain economy ( games, collectibles, Phygitals & more ) bringing things to life in the real world becomes an important part of the experience.

In our bid to make this a reality, Interality assets are AR compatible i.e. you can view them in your own physical space just be scanning your NFT.

Ps: This is an extremely exciting development, especially for PFP projects that can now issue AR versions of their characters to holders as utility.

Mint mechanics

The NFT was free to claim and had a claim limit of 1 Per wallet, allowing maximum participation and a whole range of users to interact with Interality for the first time ( NFT Veterans, Art collectors, first time users with a fresh wallet & more )
All gas fees were covered by Interality to ensure that it does not hamper the experience. Web2 interactions are default free and if we were to scale as an industry we have to lead by being able to create better and simpler onboarding experiences for users & skip the need for them to understand or learn about chains, network congestion, base fees, gwei, priority fees & more.

Outcome

We had 50+ Unique holders within the first 24 hours.
Total unique holders stand at 80+ as of 7th March 2023
We received a ton of positive feedback on the entire minting experience ( Loading speed, ease of access on mobile, minting, the art & the detailing of the world )
